BFC Staff Recognition for April, May and June

| Staff

Each month, Co-op employees nominate colleagues they want to honor, and a committee comes together to vote on a winner. Our staff have all been heroic over these last months, but we’d like to lift up these three gems in particular for standing out in a stellar crowd!

A Day in the Life of a Brattleboro Food Co-op Employee, Pandemic Style

I work at the Shareholder Services desk at the Co-op. In mid-March I returned one week early from a trip to the Pacific Northwest and California, quarantined for two weeks, and then came back to find a completely transformed workplace. It was shocking: the business had been completely reinvented in less than a month. No customers at 10 am on Tuesday when I arrived, just a sort of warehouse feel with a bunch of very busy colleagues, as though all the grocery aisles were just for storing food for purchase, none of the browsing or chatting, just dry storage, cold storage, freezers full of future shipments.

Staff Recognition for February 2020

| Food For Thought, Staff

Each month, Co-op employees nominate colleagues they want to honor, and a committee comes together to vote on a winner. This month Monica in the Front End was selected.  During the holiday season, a shopper checking out through her line was $4 short on her grocery bill.  Monica kindly opened her wallet and pulled out the money to pay for the remainder of that persons bill.  This was an example of exemplary customer service and we thank Monica for making someones holidays a bit more special.

A Big Thank You to Chris Ellis, Staff Nutritionist for Changing Lives

| Food For Thought, Staff

Chris has been a part of the Brattleboro Food Co-op family for many, many, years.  She has been our Staff Nutritionist and provided support to hundreds of staff and shoppers in one-on-one consultations as well as thousands more with her years of writing in Food for Thought. She also works in Early Education Services with a deep pride in delivering these children delicious and organic food. Her impact on the children of our community might be her greatest superhero strength, and for this we are deeply in debt to her work. You may have noticed that she has authored less articles recently in Food for Thought and while she will continue to write in Food for Thought it will be less often. This shift is occurring as we decrease the print editions of Food For Thought and manage the Co-op’s financial situation.

January Staff Recognition

| Staff

She is being honored for her consistently outstanding customer service and a deep commitment to an amazing customer experience for every person she interacts with here at the Co-op.

September Staff Recognition

| Staff

Each month, Co-op employees nominate colleagues they want to honor, and a committee comes together to vote on a winner. In September,  Jeff in Security won for his outstanding work.  In the words of his colleague: “Jeff is very responsive and on top of all security issues when they come up, and even when we don’t notice.  Thanks Jeff for your hard work and commitment to the safety of the Co-op!

BFC Staff Recognition for June

| Food For Thought, Staff

Each month, Co-op employees nominate colleagues they want to honor, and a committee comes together to vote on a winner. This month Sam, a cook and baker in our Commissary Kitchen, was selected. As her colleagues stated: “Sam has been such as asset to our department. She is extremely flexible working in the kitchen and on the Deli line filling in/covering shifts. This is very much appreciated.”
Congratulations, Sam!

Alchemist Beers are Here

| Beer & Wine, Staff

As of a couple months ago, every Thursday we get a delivery from The Alchemist of their Heady Topper and Focal Banger beers, two starlets of the booming craft brewing industry.  So now, instead of the old answer to the questions that arose when customers wondered where to buy Heady Topper (“Can I get Heady Topper at the Brattleboro Co-op?  Where can I get it?”) which Tony used to have to say about 500 times a day (youcan’tgetitinthispartofVermontyouhavetogotoMontpelier) we can all now say “YES.  It’s delivered every Thursday.  Limit 3- four-packs per person for each beer, Focal Banger and Heady Topper.  Come early, it goes fast.”  The first time we got a delivery of the stuff, one of our local newspapers was here with a camera, and a photo of a mega beer geek with a four-pack in his hands landed on the cover.  It was newsworthy.

BFC Staff Recognition for May

| Staff

Each month, Co-op employees nominate colleagues they want to honor, and a committee comes together to vote on a winner. This month Tim, a cook in our Commissary Kitchen, was selected. As his colleague stated: “He has such a great demeanor, always goes above and beyond of what is asked of him and always has even keel about him. He’s great!”
Congratulations, Tim!
